Lady Tremaine
Lady Tremaine, the notorious "Wicked Stepmother" or "Evil Stepmother" from Disney's 1950 animated classic Cinderella, is a master of manipulation and cruelty. Her enviable control over her own daughters and Cinderella is driven by her desire to protect her own children and elevate her own social standing. Despite her best efforts, however, her wickedness eventually leads to her downfall.
Cinderella ultimately finds her own happily ever after, leaving Lady Tremaine to face the consequences of her devious actions. Lady Tremaine's treatment of Cinderella is particularly insidious, as she never harms her physically, but instead seeks to punish her psychologically. Driven by her own envy of Cinderella's beauty and wholesome charm, she forces her stepdaughter into servitude in her own home.
Lady Tremaine's methods of manipulation are subtle and devious; she maintains a false benevolence in her household authority and encourages her daughters to abuse Cinderella by providing them with the initiative to destroy her dress. Furthermore, she never truly intends on keeping her promises, especially those made to her stepdaughter.
