August is the peak monsoon season in Nepal, but that doesn’t mean trekking is off the table. While many popular trails receive frequent rain, several destinations either lie in the Himalayan rain shadow or still offer rewarding experiences despite the monsoon.

## Items

### 1. [Upper Mustang Trek](https://listium.com/@carmebrunn/145694/top-five-places-to-visit-in-august-in-nepal/0/upper-mustang-trek)

Item ID: `0`

- Link: Link
- Notes: \[Upper Mustang\](https://www.ecoholidaysnepal.com/upper-mustang-trek) is the best trekking destination in Nepal during August. Located in the Himalayan rain shadow, it receives very little rainfall, making the trails dry and comfortable. The trek offers dramatic desert-like landscapes, ancient caves, centuries-old monasteries, and the unique Tibetan-influenced culture of the former Kingdom of Lo.

### 2. [Upper Dolpo Trek](https://listium.com/@carmebrunn/145694/top-five-places-to-visit-in-august-in-nepal/1/upper-dolpo-trek)

Item ID: `1`

- Notes: If you’re looking for a remote and adventurous experience, \[Upper Dolpo\](https://www.ecoholidaysnepal.com/upper-dolpo-trek) is an excellent choice. Like Upper Mustang, much of the region lies in the rain shadow. The trek takes you through untouched valleys, high mountain passes, traditional villages, and the spectacular Shey Phoksundo Lake.

### 3. [Nar Phu Valley Trek](https://listium.com/@carmebrunn/145694/top-five-places-to-visit-in-august-in-nepal/2/nar-phu-valley-trek)

Item ID: `2`

- Link: Link
- Notes: \[Nar Phu Valley\](https://www.ecoholidaysnepal.com/nar-phu-valley-trekking) is one of Nepal’s hidden gems. This restricted area offers medieval villages, Tibetan Buddhist culture, dramatic canyons, and stunning mountain scenery. Since much of the trail is in the rain shadow north of the Annapurna range, August is still a great time to visit.

### 4. [Annapurna Circuit Trek](https://listium.com/@carmebrunn/145694/top-five-places-to-visit-in-august-in-nepal/3/annapurna-circuit-trek)

Item ID: `3`

- Link: Link
- Notes: Although the lower sections of the \[Annapurna Circuit\](https://www.ecoholidaysnepal.com/annapurna-circuit-trekking) receive monsoon rain, once you reach Manang, the climate becomes much drier due to the rain shadow effect. The trek combines lush green forests, alpine landscapes, traditional villages, and the iconic Thorong La Pass.

### 5. [Mardi Himal Trek](https://listium.com/@carmebrunn/145694/top-five-places-to-visit-in-august-in-nepal/4/mardi-himal-trek)

Item ID: `4`

- Link: Link
- Notes: \[Mardi Himal\](https://www.ecoholidaysnepal.com/mardi-himal-trek) isn’t in the rain shadow, so expect occasional rainfall. However, if you’re fortunate with the weather, the forests become incredibly lush, wildflowers bloom, and the mountain views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli are breathtaking. The trails are also much quieter than during the peak trekking seasons.
