- Notes: "An Unwanted Guest" is my favorite book by Shari Lapena, primarily due to its isolated setting thriller. Additionally, the locked door mystery element drew me in, as we try to identify the murderer among a group of people. Lapina's concepts are compelling, but her writing style doesn't always work for me, as her plots typically involve neighborhood, couple, or family drama. However, "An Unwanted Guest" stood out as a unique experience, with a group of strangers snowed-in at a hotel-like cottage. Overall, it felt like a refreshing change from her other works.
