The Best Korean Dramas List

The Best Korean Dramas List

Hi! My name is Deema, and I've been watching Kdramas for the past decade. I started at 12 years old, and I'm now 23! I love dramas, and I never had friends in real life that liked the same things I did, so I created 'Deemalovesdrama,' in December 2019. Now, we have one of the biggest Kdrama communities online, and we all fangirl/fanguy together all the time. It's a super fun community that I'm sOOO proud of creating, and I hope you will join it one day!

This list is my top 35 dramas as of May 2022, and I'll update it regularly :)

18 Again

It's my favourite kdrama of all time. It made me bawl and feel super appreciative of life and all its absurdities. It has a great ending too, so don't worry about that! It truly is a top-tier drama, and its OST is fantastic too. My favourite song from the OST is actually sung by the lead actor, Yoon Sang Hyun, and it's called "If We Love Again."

One of the best written dramas ever, to me. The storyline was so good and complex, and I felt as if each character had their time to shine. The squad goals in this drama was also top-tier, along with Vincenzo's character development.

It's also really funny along with being dramatic and suspenseful.

Fight for My Way

It's my favorite rom-com of all time. It's one of the kdramas that I seriously cannot find a single fault in. It's so fantastic as a rom-com: best friends to lovers, super action-packed. It's so cute, so funny. I love the relationship. If there's a relationship in life that I want, I want their relationship. I think that if you really really want to watch a romantic comedy that you will 100% like, it's going to be Fight for My Way.

The first time I watched this drama, I watched it so fast that I felt the need to rewatch it at least 5 times since then. It's not your 'average,' kdrama. It really motivated me to work and want to achieve everything and more in life. The romance is presented as a sub-plot that I wish they had explored more, but otherwise the drama was awesome. And although I wish they had more of a focus on the romance, I still loved their relationship so much because they truly built it together.

This drama is especially close to my heart because its the drama that launched, 'deemalovesdrama,' on YouTube, because I used to do weekly reactions to each episode and watch it with everyone. The drama itself is written so well, and has a strong female lead that is also vulnerable. Topics like mental health are also represented super well in the drama, and it has one of the best kdrama endings ever~

I rewatched it the other day and was pleasantly *stunned* at young Gong Yoo. This led me to rewatch all Gong Yoo dramas again, by the way. Anyways- back on the drama- it has one of the most casual portrayals of a romance in a kdrama, and by that I mean that the Gong Yoo and Eun Hye portrayed their characters so perfectly, that their relationship on-screen looked realistic. Such a fun, easy drama to watch, but to be honest, I didn't like the second lead the first time I watched in the mid-2000's and I wasn't going to like them now, so I pretty much skip over all their parts.

The K2

This drama is so action-packed and also one of my favorite music themes of all time. The K2 has a very dramatic music score and it's so so good. I think the kdrama did so well in terms of storyline and pacing. The romance was great. I love action and I love it when it's done well with romance. It's just such a great kdrama. I really really like it.

I think that the production is great. The way the storyline developed is fantastic. The character development is beautiful. I genuinely loved everything about it. I just loved how it made me laugh a lot and that was something that I was very obviously missing from this very dreary quarantine life. So I genuinely really loved Mr. Queen and I'm on the last episode now. And I'm so sad to be saying goodbye to it, to be honest.

IU is ICONIC in this drama- her outfits, her personality, her EVERYTHING. I loved the fantasy in this drama and all the storylines of the ghosts- I wasn't that intrigued by the romance aspect of this drama because I found her chemistry with the second lead better- but it's such a nice drama to watch.

Twenty Five, Twenty One

This drama has the greatest love story I've ever had the pleasure to watch. I am obsessed with this drama- the writing, the romance, the friendships, the OSTs- everything was absolutely incredible.

HOWEVER- A warning: I would consider the drama's ending at episode 15, 1 hour in. Don't watch episode 16 if you don't like "realistic endings" because I sure as hell DO NOT. I re-wrote the ending for the people who were traumtised by it, and you can find it here: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cb57_i4NLp1/

My favourite song from the OST is the one sung by the cast, and it's called "With."

Out of 10 kdrama watchers, I would say at least 5 would say that 'Reply 1988,' is their favourite drama.

Nostalgic, friendship-focused, first-love exploring… it's one of the warmest kdramas you'll ever watch. It has a quality to it that you won't find in many kdramas, and you'll develop a really strong bond with the characters and their families.

PS. I love who she ended up with!

My Mister is the type of drama that will leave a very big imprint on you. It has a lot of deep emotional roots, and presents a lot of societal problems. I rewatch this drama a lot when I'm sad, because in a roundabout way, it makes me feel hopeful. It's the type of drama to put you right in your feels and is SUPERBLY underrated.

Healer is one of the dramas that really cemented kdrama romance in my mind because beforehand in kdramas I really didn't see that much besides like hand-holding, hugging, kissing but like nothing more serious than that. For Healer, it actually showed so much romance and so much intimacy that I genuinely wasn't expecting and I was nicely surprised. The storyline is super good and I love Wookie in the drama sooo much.

My favourite rom-com! I love the jealousy trope the most, and this drama had it in abundance. It also had such a funny storyline, an enemies-to-lovers relationship and all this took place in the workplaceee! I re-watch this drama twice a year at the very least, and its ending is FANTASTIC.

The OST is one of my favourites too- the whole OST, so check it out.

The IU and Lee Joon Gi pairing cannot be compared honestly- they're the true OTP. I'm telling you from now- the ending is probably one of the most heart-breaking endings I ever had to go through. I watched this drama when it AIRED and I'm still sad :") But I still think it's super worth watching, and that it's one of the best enemies-to-super-lovers stories ever.

Angel’s Last Mission: Love

I was very surprised that not that many people watched Angel's Last Mission Love because it is one of my favourites. It's super underrated, and I think it's because people think it might be cringy because it's about an angel and a ballerina. But that's not the case AT ALL- in reality, it's beautiful, heartbreaking and so, so romantic. Just writing this, I really really want to watch it again.

Hospital Playlist

Hospital Playlist

Hospital Playlist is created by the same director of the 'Reply,' series, and so you'll see a lot of similarities on how great the quality of the drama is. It focuses on 5 doctors that are besties who work at the same hospital, and the cases that happen at the hospital as well as their love lives. Super nice to watch on a rainy day, and is also hilarious but also can make you cry. It even has a second season, and also a variety show where the whole cast comes called 'Hospital Playlist Goes Camping.'

Jo Jung Suk, the actor who plays 'Ik Jun,' is one of my favourite actors, and he sung the OST too (which won awards). It's called, "Aloha."

I really liked TOTNT-the fantasy in it was so well-done, and I really liked how the storyline developed. The ending made me bawl my eyes out- but it's not the true ending as we're getting a season 2 soon! I loved the bromance in the drama more than the romance tbh.
