The lyricism is incredible. The music is unmatched. They have three distinct and beautiful lead singers. How they managed to get five people who would do better than most solo to play together is nothing short of amazing. Neil Young said on stage that it was one of the greatest pleasures of his life to stand on stage with them. [Warumpi Band](https://listium.com/@thomasdavis/2730/under-rated-international-rock-bands/2/warumpi-band) Item ID: `2` - Country: Australia - Era: 1980 - Best Album: Go Bush - Description: The Warumpi Band is the literal meaning of "diamonds in the dirt". it always amazes me when talented people meet in the most unexpected places. The unexpected place in this setting is Papunya, a town of 258 situated in the middle of absolutely no where in central-ish Australia. The lyrics represent what some might call the plight of the indigenous people while maintaining a vibe devoid of any resentment. I was quite shocked when I heard Tipriti (lead singer) for the first time, mostly because I had a different opinion of what India's music scene was like. I sometimes put them on and ask my friends to guess where they are from, everywhere but India is generally their answer. From my quick glance at the map they are straight from the middle of the Sahara desert. God knows where they got the high quality sound systems and electric guitars. That aside, it is possibly some of the best "fusion" I have ever heard. The only time I imagine anyone thinking of African hymns with electric guitar was while they were super stoned being absorbed by the couch talking to their friends. Funnily enough his band actually sticks out more to me, they definitely have a unique sound.
