Every Character in Disney's "Encanto"

Mirabel is one of the Madrigal grandchildren. She is who introduces us to the family and the house through singing a song to a few kids from the village. She seems to avoid the subject of her gift.

We soon find out that Mirabel wasn't given a gift, and when she tried to open her door during her gift ceremony, the door didn't open for her. It is a very relatable character, as we witness Mirabel strugge with feelings of insecurity and inadequacy towards her cousins and sisters, particularly Isabela/

Agustín is the father of Mirabel, and an encouraging and nurturing figure for her. He marries into the Madrigal family, so he is acutely aware of how it feels to live amongst the Madrigals without having any magical powers. He seems to be prone to accidents, which is convenient considering his wife- Julieta - has the power to heal people through food.

After losing her husband, Abuela Alma’s unwavering faith would create the magical "encanto" which built the Madrigal magical home. As the family matriarch, Abuela Alma’s has lead the family members, teaching them about their gifts and ensuring they integrate well and contribute to their community.

Through her strength and the help of the "encanto", she raised triplets Julieta, Pepa, and Bruno. Strangely, her children all received different magical gifts, which were also passed on to her grandchildren, with the exception of Maribel.

Antonio is the youngest among Pepa and Felix's three kids. He has a special bond with his cousin - Mirabel - and seems to lean on her for support as his gift "ceremony" approaches, as he is taken with the anxiety of not being given a gift.

The movie shows Antonio's "ceremony", where he opens his door and finds his gift: communicating with animals. He becomes fast friends with a ferocious but friendly jaguar and a toucan..

Bruno is the uncle "we don't talk about". He was one of Abuela's three children, and his gift was to be able to see the future.

His predictions, however, made him into an unpleasant presence, which drove him to disappear.

Bruno isn't a bad person (which we are lead to believe in the beginning of the story). On the contrary: his concern for his family is the origin of his problems, and he has the determination to help them solve the issues, with the help from his niece - Mirabel.

Camilo is a teen with a great sense of humor and confidence in himself.

He is Pepa and Felix's middle child, and was born to entertain - which is supported by his gift: shapeshifting into anyone he wants to be.

He is seen teasing and pranking his family with his gift, which shows his sense of humor and lightheartedness.

Casa Madrigal is a magical home, where the Madrigal family lives. The house provides for the family and interacts with its members, which is why we consider it a character. It is a three-story square building that includes a tall tower and a courtyard at its center. For the majority of the movie, the house looks a lot larger from the inside than the outside, which leads to believe the magic within it is responsible for expanding rooms and environments. The house hosts an important lit candle, which is believed to hold the "encanto" - the magic of the family Madrigal!

Dolores is the daughter of Pepa and Félix, and carries herself with grace, given the nature of her gift. She was gifted the power of super-hearing, so she is able to hear sounds from a long distance.

Because of her powers, she knows everyone's secrets, but doesn't seem particularly invested in sharing or "spilling the tea", which says something about her character and personality. She seems to avoid drama and problems.

She has a crush on someone, revealed through the course of the plot.

Félix seems to be a very supportive husband to Pepa, considering the nature of her gift and personality. He is happy and seems to have integrated well within the Madrigal family - even though he doesn't have a magical gift himself.

His calm and nurturing personality seems to complement his wife's well, and they get along great.

Felix is the father of Antonio, Camilo and Dolores.

Isabela is Mirabel's older sister, who is pretty and graceful. She is so perfect that her gift is the ability to blossom flowers wherever she goes. This causes friction and feelings of inadequacy with her sister - Mirabel - who doesn't have a gift herself.

The plot will drive Isabela to question her priorities and choices and challenge her own self-image.

Julieta is one of the three children of Abuela, and is a loving mother to Maribel, Luisa and Isabela.

She uses food to heal people, and that is her gift, and seems to feel the pain of Maribel as she deals with the insecurities of not being given a gift.

Luisa is Maribel's sister, and the middle child of Augustin and Julieta. Her power is super strength, and she seems to put that power to the service of others quite often, helping with construction, solving problems that require strength, etc.

As the plot develops, Luisa seems conflicted and burdened by her gift, as if the outside strength didn't match her inside sensibility.

Mariano is a young man from the village who would like to marry one of the Madrigal girls.

We don't get to learn too much about him, but we do learn he is an honorable young man, who is eager to join the family.

Osvaldo is a short Colombian man with brown hair, brown eyes, and a mustache. He wears a long-sleeved white and grey-striped shirt with buttons, black pants, and brown sandals.

Abuelo Pedro was Alma's husband and the patriarch of the family. He died fifty years ago, when he and Abuela Alma left their home in search of a better life. Abuela Alma attributes the miracle of the Madrigal family to his sacrifice.

Pepa and Félix are a couple rooted in balance. Pepa is “overly dramatic, overly emotional and, for better or worse, her magical gift is that her emotions control the weather. It goes from sunny to hailing to snow to rainbows and her husband loves that about her. Pepa, one of Abuela Alma’s triplets, was gifted with the power to control the weather with her emotions. The forecast is often unpredictable, however, as Pepa’s emotions are far-reaching and ever-changing.

Not much is known about her personality, except that she seems to have a good relationship with her son. She also seems to be on good terms with Abuela and the family, as she and her son helped her and her family rebuild Casita.

Chispi is Antonio's pet, a Capybara (which are the world's largest living rodents). Her head is short, and her fur is reddish-brown. Chispi's heavy body is shaped like a barrel, she is very sociable and a great swimmer.

Parce is a jaguar the largest cats in the Americas and one of Antonio's first animal friends. His coat is pale yellow and tan with distinctive rose-like markings. When Pepa is frightened, Parce licks her face to comfort her. He really likes to give Antonio rides on his back.

When Antonio first received his gift to communicate with animals, Pico became his first animal companion. The toucan thusly acts as the leader of Antonio's menagerie, and was responsible for inviting the rest of Encanto's wildlife into the Madrigal family.

They consist of three kids living in the Encanto town: Juancho, who drinks coffee despite being young; Cecilia, who is the kindest and sweetest of her friends; and Alejandra, a noisy and rambunctious girl.
