CategoryShower Products
I've been using this shampoo for about two or three years now, and I absolutely love it. In the past, I wasn't a fan of shampooing my hair; I was more into co-washing as a curly girl. Co-washing was my go-to, and I swore by it. However, everything changed when I discovered Shea Moisture's 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydrating Shampoo.
This product completely transformed my perception of shampoos. Unlike other shampoos, it doesn't leave my hair feeling dry or brittle. Shampooing with it is actually a pleasant experience. It cleans my scalp thoroughly, but it doesn't strip it to the point where it feels overly clean and uncomfortable.
I recently stumbled upon this gem at Marshalls for just $9.99, and what's amazing is that you get a huge 30-fluid ounce bottle for that price. It's a total steal! Plus, the aesthetic of the bottle is just so pleasing – it adds a touch of beauty to my shower, creating a lovely pink vibe. Despite the slightly washed-out appearance in the lighting, I absolutely adore the simplicity of the packaging.
What makes this product even better is that it's sulfate-free, paraben-free, and cruelty-free. I want to note that while I appreciate these qualities in a product, I don't strictly adhere to the curly girl method.
I also wanted to mention the conditioner from the same brand called Monday. I came across this brand on Instagram, and they seem to have other products in their collection as well. I'm really interested in exploring more of what they have to offer because this conditioner has truly transformed my hair care routine.
It's incredibly creamy and makes detangling a breeze. Plus, it's priced at just ten dollars for this generous amount of product, which is an absolute steal. It leaves my hair looking shiny, silky, and incredibly soft, providing the perfect foundation for styling. I highly recommend using this conditioner along with the shampoo I mentioned earlier. They make a fantastic duo!
CategoryCleansing Conditioner
It's definitely worth investing in the larger bottle because it lasts a long time. I went through one of these like crazy last year, and I still have one on hand for those occasional wash days when I feel like my hair needs it.
What makes this co-wash so great is that it not only cleanses your hair effectively but also leaves it incredibly moisturized. You don't even need to follow up with a conditioner after using it. However, I want to point out that co-washing isn't a necessity for everyone. It depends on your hair type and needs. If your hair tends to be really dry, then it can be a good option, but if you find a really good shampoo like the one I mentioned earlier, you might not even need to co-wash.
CategoryDeep Conditioners
Personally, I have a strong preference for deep conditioners with a thick consistency. If it doesn't stay put when I turn the tub upside down or shake it, that's a good sign for me. Nine times out of ten, a deep conditioner with a rich, thick texture works wonders for my hair. But there's something truly special about Noughty to the Rescue Intense Moisture Treatment.
Now, let's talk about the Curlsmith Hydro Cream Soothing Mask. This one is another gem in my haircare routine. It's really fantastic, and it's also delightfully thick, just the way I like it. You can find it at Ulta or order it online. This product is simply amazing.
It not only has a great consistency but also smells absolutely delicious. I know fragrance can be important for some people, and this one definitely delivers on that front. While it's a bit pricier compared to some others, it's totally worth the investment. A little goes a long way, even for someone like me who tends to be heavy-handed with products. Using less of it still provides amazing results for your hair.
CategoryLeave-Ins
One of my favorite leave-in conditioners this year is from Pattern. Now, I know it has mixed reviews; some people hate it, and some people love it. Personally, I love it. It has a wonderful consistency, and I find that I can use it on its own for a fluffy wash-and-go look. It also works exceptionally well when paired with other gels or stylers, which is a crucial factor for me in a leave-in conditioner. If it doesn't play nice with other products, I usually pass on it.
It's a one-and-done product that provides shine and holds moisture. It's a tried-and-true favorite that's worth having in your collection for those days when you want to keep it simple and just throw something in your hair without fussing over multiple products.
CategoryMousse
I used this mousse, which gives me volume and definition. Sometimes, I can use it on its own, but depending on the condition of my hair, I might need to layer it with a gel. In this case, I used the Aussie Instant Freeze Gel, the 20-hour max hold version. The combination of these two products might not seem like an obvious choice for fabulous curls, but trust me, it works wonders.
CategoryGels
I applied the Aussie Instant Freeze Gel with its 20-hour max hold capability. While it may not initially appear to be the most intuitive pairing for achieving stunning curls, I assure you, it produces remarkable results.
I'm a big fan of the Eco Styler Gel, specifically the one with argan oil. It's my holy grail, and I can't believe I'm living without it right now because I lost it when I went to Denver. I definitely need to buy a replacement. But I've also been testing out the Eco Styler Gel with olive oil, primarily for laying my edges today. We'll see how it performs because the argan oil version never disappoints. Highly, highly recommend it. It's super affordable and can be mixed with 85 percent of the products, although it doesn't play well with the one I mentioned earlier, so avoid that combo.
Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Twisting Butter is one of those products that should be a staple in your collection. It works beautifully with every hair texture. I remember when a group of us with different hair types used it in Florida, and it worked like magic on all of us. It defines, tames frizz, and lasts impressively long. So, if you're on the hunt for a moisturizing gel that does it all, look no further.
CategoryStyling Cream
The Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai Twisting Butter has been a reliable choice for styling. I used to be a big fan of this product way back, but then there was a phase where I abandoned styling creams altogether. I was all about using leave-ins and gels. However, one day, I found myself in need of a quick wash-and-go solution, and I thought, "Why not try a styling cream again?"
So, I revisited this product, which I already had in my stash, and I used it on its own. Previously, I used to mix it with other products, and while that combination delivered fantastic results, I discovered that this styling cream can shine on its own. It provides excellent moisture and styling capabilities.
CategoryOils
When it comes to separating my curls, fluffing them out, or adding volume, this is my go-to. It has a thick consistency, but surprisingly, it doesn't weigh down your hair. It's labeled as an oil, but it behaves more like a serum. Serums are typically thicker, and this one works wonders for my curls. I even used it to separate my hair today, and I absolutely love it.
I didn't even know dry spray oils existed until I discovered this one. They also have a pink version with an orchid scent, which I don't have right now, but it's equally delightful. These dry oils won't weigh down your hair but will provide that extra shine you might be seeking. They enhance your curls and make them look healthy, adding shine, definition, and that extra pop.
