Smokey and Steamer are twin brothers and the fireman and engineer of the Polar Express. Steamer is short and chubby, with a bald head, whereas Smokey is tall and skinny, with an exceptionally long red beard and hair.

The Polar Express is a children's book written and illustrated by Chris Van Allsburg, first published in 1985. It tells the story of a young boy who takes a magical train ride to the North Pole on Christmas Eve, where he experiences a journey of self-discovery and learns the true meaning of Christmas. The book was later adapted into a feature-length animated film, released in 2004 by Warner Bros. and directed by Robert Zemeckis.
