This fast-paced thriller combines elements of a murder mystery with magic, making it an enjoyable standalone read.

The Girl Who Drank the Moon is an incredibly adorable book that I absolutely adored. The story revolves around a witch who resides in the woods, embodying the classic eerie witch persona. In the town, a distressing tradition unfolds each year where a newborn baby is sacrificed to the witch to keep her away. However, the witch is genuinely puzzled by this recurring phenomenon of finding abandoned babies in the woods. To ensure their safety, she nourishes them with starlight and transports them to a nearby town, where she places them in the care of loving families.

The Nature of Wishes by Rachel Griffin is an excellent standalone book that stands out in the realm of series-dominated reads. The story follows our protagonist, who attends a magic school as an ever witch. In this world, witches are associated with different seasons, with their magic waxing and waning accordingly. Our main character, however, is unique as the only ever witch in hundreds of years. The book intertwines themes of seasons and environmental issues, as the witches strive to combat global warming and ecological challenges.

With its immersive fantasy world and compelling narrative, "The Nature of Wishes" is a highly recommended standalone read.

This grim and dark fantasy novel features a world with witches and witch hunters. Our main character, Nai, is a witch hunter who also happens to be the offspring of a witch. Approach this book with the understanding that there are no purely good characters, and the morally gray territory heavily leans toward an unfavorable view of the main character.

This is a captivating book that exudes a witchy atmosphere, although the characters themselves are not explicitly classified as witches. However, they possess a distinctly witchy essence and are even accompanied by hedge witches, magic users who, while not as potent as the heirs and the queen, possess the ability to control earth spirits and similar entities. The book resonates strongly with its witchy vibe, which I found immensely appealing.
