180 km west of Calgary, in the Rockies' Banff National Park lies the majestic Lake Louise ski area.
Not known for snow, but striking scenery, a vast and challenging home for the women's FIS downhill, Lake Louise has gravitas.
Hidden gems are a favourite of mine, and snow is the theme at this little sweet-spot. With one of the highest recorded annual snowfall Whitewater has a lot more game than it's vertical would lead one to believe.
Besides the snow, the backside bowl is much longer than the recorded vertical drop due to a deep valley floor much lower than the base-lodge. Mountaineers anyone?
With the closest airports being calgary at 615 Km's and Castlegar regional airport at 60 KM's, you gotta really want the white stuff.

Views all over spectacular. Our booking was on a day with heavy rain and clouds. The lady told us to come back next day even thought the ticked was assign to specific date. It's beautiful adventure worth taking. gondola ride one way takes 25min. And lift 7min.
