Though you could learn a lot about what happened in the past by reading history books, few of them will ever come close to mimicking the feeling of actually living in those times.

That’s where historical fiction comes in clutch. These works from some of the brightest literary minds in history not only give you a vivid picture of the struggles that once appraised the strength of the human spirit but also draw a lifeline that connects our collective story in this world.

IDEAS FOR THIS LIST

  • More books. 50 is better than 15. 100 is better than 50. 15 is a nice quick read, but its a quick read with moderate time on page. What if someone wants to see where there favorite books are, but they are not in the top 15. Give them more to do!
  • Add a genre field so visitors can filter by genre
  • Add other fields - # of pages? year of release?
  • Encourage users to spin-off the list to track their progress and rate the books*
  • Mention that new items will be added regularly, so follow the list to get updates
  • In the future …. when we add discussions, let all users of the list talk about the books (discussions will be attached to items, as well as to the list, so they can discuss individual books)
  • In the future … combine the ratings from all spin-offs of the list into an average rating from all users
  • In the future … sum the checked "read" boxes to give a "% of users who have read" for each book.
