Not only does college prevent you from working earlier, but the majority of any money you earn later will only go to paying off your student loans. One of the best things about your first job is that you get to earn money and spend it on things you like, but having debts right out of college ruin that feeling.
Many of those who go to college were conditioned from an early age that it is the only path to success. But the workforce is so much different now from what it was just a decade ago, and going to college is no longer that relevant for many new and exciting careers that have sprung.
