Good for exposing the nebari on the top of a tree.
After you water trees for a while the top of the soil will actually become compacted and this will stop the water from getting into the root system, so you can go around with the root rake and just get rid of just a little bit on top of the surface in the soil and that will allow the water to penetrate again.
