The Lion Guard is an American animated television series developed by Ford Riley and based on Disney's "The Lion King" franchise. The show follows a young lion named Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala, as he becomes the leader of the Lion Guard, a team of animals tasked with protecting the Pride Lands and defending the Circle of Life. The Lion Guard consists of Kion's friends, Bunga the honey badger, Fuli the cheetah, Beshte the hippopotamus, and Ono the egret, each with their unique abilities to help Kion and the Pride Lands. The series premiered on Disney Junior in 2016 and ran for three seasons, ending in 2019.
