Mother Gothel
Mother Gothel is a fictional character from the Disney animated film Tangled. She is the main antagonist of the movie and the adoptive mother of the film's protagonist, Rapunzel.
Mother Gothel is depicted as a vain, manipulative and selfish woman who uses Rapunzel's magical healing hair for her own purposes. She kidnaps Rapunzel as a baby and raises her in a hidden tower, convincing her that the outside world is dangerous and cruel, in order to keep her isolated and under her control.
Gothel is obsessed with maintaining her youth and beauty, which she achieves by singing a special song that harnesses the power of Rapunzel's hair. She is also shown to be emotionally abusive towards Rapunzel, using gaslighting and guilt-tripping to control her.
