The nearby roads are closed when there are major events for spectators to walk to the stadium. HK Rugby 7's Annual Event
One of the most anticipated annual rugby event in Hong Kong. South stand boasts the most-rowdy crowd during the rugby 7's weekend filled with enthusiastic fans dressed up in costumes and double-fisting Carlsberg/Heineken if you're doing it right. Once you're lucky enough to find yourself a ticket, brace yourself for an energetic rowdy af weekend of harcore day drinking, some rugby, crazy costumes, and good old fun-loving energy.
The Hong Kong Sevens is considered the premier tournament on the World Rugby Sevens Series competition. The Hong Kong Sevens is currently the seventh tournament on the World Series calendar, and is held annually in Hong Kong on a weekend in late March or early April.
Firmly established as the world’s premier event of its kind and one of the most popular annual sporting events in Asia, the Hong Kong Sevens attracts some of the world’s greatest rugby players and thousands of fans from every corner of the globe to the magnificent Hong Kong Stadium every year.
With fast and furious rugby action combined with a carnival atmosphere and world rugby’s largest prize purse, the 2018 Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens was a truly unforgettable three days for everyone there.
From kicking off with 12 teams in front of 3,000 people at the Hong Kong Football Club in 1976, to today’s three-day extravaganza of international rugby revelry with 40 teams playing in front of 120,000 spectators, the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens truly is ‘Where the World Comes to Play.’
