I wouldn’t recommend doing this since there isn’t a pedestrian path so you have to walk directly on the road which isn’t very safe (there are vehicles going by pretty frequently and the drive fast). I would recommend taking the number 9 bus instead which is quick and painless (we did this for the return journey and were glad we did). \n\nBig wave bay is beautiful even on a dreary january afternoon. There were a bunch of surfers riding the waves even though it was pretty cool outside. There are a few shops around the beach so we sat nearby with a beer enjoying the sea air. Big Wave Bay Beach
My favorite is Big Wave Bay. Take blue line to Shau Kei Wan. There’s a minibus #9 to Big Wave Bay (undercover bus stop by exit A3 Shau Kei Wan) that takes to straight there. You can rent surfboards and BBQ and chug a few cold ones over there. Highly recommended on a sunny day!
